Toyota Supra Breaks Cover at Detroit Auto Show

Toyota SUPRA was first launched in 1978 and was produced till 2002 with four generation models.
Now the Fifth generation Supra is back after 17 years with the same Sporty DNA.

The new Supra is the first global model of TOYOTA GAZOO Racing's GR sports car series and was build considering three fundamental elements - wheelbase, tread, and center of gravity, to achieve handling performance that befits a pure sports car.

The two-seater sports car now has a wheelbase of 2,470 mm which is 100 mm shorter than that of the fourth gen model.Also,an ideal 50/50 distribution in front/rear weight balance helped in achieving in better cornering performance.

Interior of the Supra boasts features like shift by wire gear shift,an 8.8-inch TFT gauge display, and a large, full-color head-up display,Dual tone leather interior finish with sporty seats.

Powering the Supra is a 3.0-litre,inline 6 cylinder twin-scroll turbo charged engine which produces 335hp and 500Nm.The engine is mated to a 8-speed sports automatic transmission.
Toyota claims that the Supra can do 0-100kph in 4.3 secs and will have an electronically limited speed of 250kph.

For specific markets, the Supra will be made available in a  2.0-litre,inline 4 cylinder,twin-scroll turbo charged engines with 254hp/194hp and 400Nm/320Nm.The 2.0-litre supra has the capability to do 0-100kph in 5.2 secs and 6.5 secs
